Tiivistelmä: | In Finland, the public sector's restructuring over the past 10 years and the changes in the social services and health care organization seem to have developed into a layered structure including the public sector, private companies and the third sector. Companies, even some multinationals, have got a foothold especially in the health care. Among the private actors, social care and many health care and support services are dominated by small companies. Due to the small size of Finnish municipalities, the question of how services are organized within the market mechanism is crucial for those in paid employment, small business owners and service providers, and for those receiving services. In general, the different forms of gendered work in care get rearticulated. This article describes the current situation with small companies having come to offer care and services alongside the public sector in the quasi-market situation. Key findings are discussed in relation to outsourcing, trust building and the welfare service work changes. Private social and health care business in Finland have slowly become part of the mosaic of the welfare state. |
