Tiivistelmä:This article aims at offering an analysis of organizational communication used by one major U.S. airline, America West, during a Teamsters unionizing campaign (hereafter as: u-c.) as a way for readers to explore what is there for airlines to be done when faced with the threat of unionization, how the front-line management is prepared for communication with employees, and what's the role for the managers to be played in u-c. A set of corporate communications from the airline were collected within a 7-month period and analysed qualitatively, incl. management training manuals, e-mails, and conference calls btw. line managers and regional directors. Due to restrictions of accessing to Teamsters Union conversations or internal documents, the authors realize that the study is limited to an analysis of only one side of the story. This analysis, together with the overall results' assessment of a unionizing campaign, provides information for organizations to use, once selecting strategies for internal communication in times of potential change.
