| Tiivistelmä: | This paper concerns rise of meritocracy during the market transition in Poland. The study is based on data from national surveys. The findings show that market-like reforms changes the mode of allocating rewards to credit of bigger incentives to meritocracy and individual achievements. In Poland the rise in meritocracy was paralleled by growing benefits to managers and professionals. In addition, privatization of the economy draw a line between workers in private and state sectors, with income convenience being emphasized in the private sector. |
