| Tiivistelmä: | This study explores how stakeholders' (henceforth as: sth/s.) ethical evaluations of decisions are influenced by both their roles and the embedded issues (here as: e-iss.) within the decisions. It is argued that investors use different moral paradigms compared with consumer sth/s., as a result the sth/s. role occupied by an individual significantly influences their ethical evaluation of offshoring (herein as: off-sng.) and outsourcing (as: outs.) decisions. It is examined whether e-iss. of product quality and information security increase the moral intensity of off-sng. and outs. decisions, thereby negatively influencing ethical evaluations. Using vignettes, it is found that respondents, who were working professionals enrolled in a part-time MBA program in an U.S. city, viewed either off-sng. or outs. less favourably than relocation. Surprisingly, respondents viewed off-sng. with data security risks more negatively than offshore outs. with quality risks, which suggests that the issue of information security has a greater moral intensity than the one of product or service quality for both consumer and investor sth/s. Thus, it is shown that that e-iss. play a significant role in sth/s.' ethical judgments of business decisions, like off-sng. and outs. |
