| Tiivistelmä: | The purpose of the paper is to test the social capital hypothesis in the context of temporary labour migration from Poland to Germany. The study is based on data from the Polish Migration Project, which collected information on residents of four Polish communities. The study shows that social capital mechanisms seem to be factors relevant to explaining labour migration from Poland to Germany. The results reveal that some of the variables commonly used as indicators of migration-specific social capital seem to be problematic. |
