Tiivistelmä:In loosely structures areas, there is still no consensus on the objectives and methods of knowledge creation and learning, which has lead to a wide array of learning systems. A review of literature was conducted and five specific approaches were identified with the use of action-learning theory: extension, community learning, organizational capacity building, empowerment and social learning. Acquiring knowledge and changing practices through single-loop learning processes is the main focus of both extension systems and organizational capacity building. Alternative systems, community learning and empowerment, were developed with focus on changes in values through double-loop learning. An insight into the capacity to influence wider environments through triple-loop learning is gained through social learning.
