Tiivistelmä: | There have been found important differences btw. behaviour in the laboratory and the field through many studies. This study explores two possible causes for the divergence, that is, i. social concerns and ii. unfamiliarity with the traded good. It is found that people overstate their preferences for relatively familiar goods with normative attributes and understate their preferences for a relatively unfamiliar good with low normative motivations in the laboratory as compared to the field etc. In some cases, willingness-to-pay from a conventional valuation elicitation method is more than twice the value from the new inferred valuation approach. |
