| Tiivistelmä: | Purpose of this paper is to examine professional development of deans and department heads in the management roles at the universities in Catalonia. The research data is collected using qualitative interviews and focus groups. Results reveal three phases of development of academic management functions: learning and contextualization, development of functions and the institutional projection and transmission of management tasks. |
