| Tiivistelmä: | This article examines organizational ambivalence in a small and medium size enterprise context. It is argued that because of the difference in consuming resources, organizational ambivalence can be divided into latent and active, which indicate different uses in dealing with environmental forces and improving company performance. Two studies were conducted in four countries to test the hypotheses. These two studies support the hypotheses concerning the effect of organizational ambivalence on organizational performance and partially support the hypotheses regarding environmental effects on organizational ambivalence. |
