Tiivistelmä:This article examines why the UK was much slower to start business education than other Europe and indicates how earlier traditions were challenged after the Robbins and Frank reports. Five groups of top institutions for business education have been identified and named: front-runners, engineers, frankies, followers and latecomers. This article also shows that the relatively late diffusion of business education has meant that UK business schools have been relatively less prominent in publishing compared with US business schools. Also most top references in the published UK articles have US authors.
