| Tiivistelmä: | This article examines the entry to tertiary education of students with different social backgrounds in light of educational expansion in Germany. First, inequalities in access to four vertical alternatives of postsecondary education are investigated by multinomial regression with national data from four school-leaver surveys. Second, for students enrolling at a tertiary institution, influences of social background on horizontal choices of fields of study are examined. Findings indicate that unequal opportunities to get in postsecondary and tertiary institutions are stable at a high level. |
