| Tiivistelmä: | Innovation at the team level has been largely unstudied, and there are varying opinions on the effect of leadership on R&D team innovation. Innovation research reveals that high levels of autonomy increase innovation in R&D teams, which implies that leaders shouldn't guide teams too much. On the other hand, leadership research offers transformational leadership as a way to assist team innovation. Using these two perspectives, the article presents a U-shaped relationship between transformational leadership and R&D team innovation, which was supported by data from 52 R&D teams internationally. |
