Tiivistelmä: | This study examines deceptive impression management's (hereafter as: d-i-m.) effect on a supervisor's ratings of promotability and relationship quality via the mediating role of the supervisor's recognition of deception. It is argued that d-i-m. in a supervisor-subordinate relationship is difficult to reach and the degree that deception is detected will negatively impact desired outcomes. Data gathered form a matched sample of about 170 public sector employees and their supervisors support this model. It is indicated that recognition fully mediate the negative relationships btw. d-i-m. with supervisor's rating of promotability and relationship quality. |
