Abstract:This paper explores the role of learning in corporate restructuring (hereafter as: c-r). Drawing from two viewpoints of organizational (here as: org-al.) learning, absorptive capacity and org-al. improvisation, it is examined whether experience with c-r. modes (spin-offs, sell-offs) influences subsequent restructuring and financial performance. The findings contribute to a dynamic explanation of c-r. and its influence on financial performance, illustrate differences btw. learning in a repetitive situation and ..., and indicate when absorptive capacity and organizational improvisational views are most profitable etc.
