Tiivistelmä: | This article presents a multi-level approach to the analysis of production chains in which two characteristic tourism activities the hotel and travel agency industries take part. Firstly, from a macroeconomic perspective, input-output techniques are used to identify the essential tourism production chains from the regional inputoutput table of Andalusia (Spain). After that, using a microeconomic perspective, another approach is taken based on the concept of Global Value Chains (GVC). We present the structure and main agents participating in the tourism GVC, and put forward the role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Andalusian hotel and travel agency industries. Finally, these approaches are compared and connected, exploring some characteristics of the tourism production chains at the mesoeconomic analysis level. |
