Tiivistelmä: | Institutional logics is a concept that describes the beliefs and assumptions that the actors of a specific institutional field have. This study analyzes the shift of biopharmaceutical industry's new drug development from the preceding model of small molecules or one target, to the more complex model of genomic and post-genomic research methods. The article concludes that institutional logics are never untouched by struggle and controversy and they must be perceived as outcomes from complex social processes. Also, it is found that 'traditional', 'genomic' and 'post-genomic' eras give an excessively simplistic image of the organization and implementation of new drug development today. |
